Andy Parfitt is the longest ever serving Controller of Radio 1, responsible for transforming the station into the Radio 1 we know and love today. He now divides his time between the interim position of Global Head of Content at Vevo, and Executive Director of Talent at the world’s most famous advertising agency, Saatchi & Saatchi. All in all, he’s a bit of a rockstar.

During his time at Radio 1, Andy hired many of the top DJs now loved the world over, he was involved in the creation of BBC Introducing and was responsible for carrying the station through into the digital ages.

In this episode, we sit down with Andy and dig into his time at Radio 1, including his own personal journey, his vision for the transformation of the station he joined in 1999 and the skills and mindsets required to see it all through, often under public scrutiny.
