We are pleased to announce that BIMM, The British and Irish Modern Music Institute will be sponsoring the ‘Musicpreneur’ Unsigned Music Award category.
BIMM has colleges in six cities where music matters most – London, Berlin, Dublin, Manchester, Bristol and Brighton – and is proud to be the largest and leading provider of contemporary music education in the UK and Europe, so it makes perfect sense for them to endorse the category designed to recognise savvy musicians.
The first BIMM college opened in 2001 in Brighton. The vibrant and creative city was chosen as a base because of its access to gigs, studios, record labels and artists. BIMM Bristol opened in 2008, and in 2010, Tech Music School London (TMS), joined the BIMM Group, which had been teaching music in the heart of the world’s music capital since 1983, and now operates as BIMM London.
In 2011 BIMM Dublin was established, followed by a £3m centre – BIMM Manchester – in 2013.
They are now very pleased to have added BIMM Berlin as their first music college to open in Continental Europe.
The six BIMM colleges collaborate in perfect harmony, while ensuring that each individual institute has a unique and independent regional identity which is nurtured by its local team and students.
CEO of UMA, Simon O’Kelly attended BIMM when it was simply: Brighton Institute of Modern Music; graduating in 2008.
As a proud member of the BIMM Alumni and having seen first-hand how amazing the BIMM education system is, he is extremely pleased that they are now supporting his team’s focus on new and unsigned artists, like so many of the acts emerging from BIMM around the world and we hope that the UMA opportunity will be something all BIMM students will soon become aware of.
With plenty of success stories sat amongst their list of Alumni – including the likes of The Kooks, Tom Odell and James Bay – we are convinced there are more superstars waiting to pour out of BIMM over the next few years.
